The Warbirds Resource Group was formed to provide a starting point for an individual looking to learn about historical military aviation, primarily centered around the World War II era but eventually it will include from the end of World War I to the beginning of the Vietnam War. I hope that these pages will provide you with the information you are looking for or at least be able to point you in the right direction.

German Helmets and caps

Due to the overwhelming number of helmets that have been sold over the last couple of years, I am going to use this section to highlight the more special and unique helmets. The data for all previously sold helmets is just too large. Enjoy what I consider my "Hall of Fame" for helmets.

In 1998 I came across a journal which I had written while in the service during the years 1942 to 1945, covering my experiences as a navigator with the Eighth Air Force in Europe during World War II. I had forgotten about this journal until I accidentally found it while rummaging through my attic. My original intention was to type it up on paper, make photocopies of it, and distribute these copies only among my family, relatives, and friends who I thought might be interested. At the urging of my family, I put it on the Internet, but only in an abbreviated form. However, I received many comments from persons who had viewed that abbreviated Website, telling me that there was a need for more detailed information about the personal experiences of those who had served in the Air Force in wartime, and that the Website should be expanded. Some of these comments were from historians, teachers and students from grade school through college who wanted more information for use in their studies. It was for these reasons that I greatly enlarged and enhanced the contents of the Website.

According to the claims in the official records, the 752nd Tank Battalion destroyed 2,375 German vehicles, excluding an unknown quantity that may have been destroyed during static indirect firing missions between January and March 1945. The vast majority of the claimed kills were wheeled vehicles, with an astounding 2,289 destroyed in the violent Po Valley shoot 'em up that took place during the final 3 weeks of the war.
